Obituary of Kevin William Spielmann
Kevin W. Spielmann, 48 of Prairieburg, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville and will continue at Kramer Funeral Home from 9 – 10 a.m. prior to funeral mass.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.
Kevin was born on December 6, 1975 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Michael and Mary (Wolfe) Spielmann. He graduated from Western Dubuque High School and moved onto Hawkeye Community College where he studied Electrical Engineering. Kevin was employed with Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids for over twenty-five years where he began as an Electronics Test Technician and most recently as a Senior Engineering Lab Technician. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping and hiking. He really looked forward to taking trips, primarily to Wyoming, to hunt and fish with friends. Kevin was passionate about music as well, whether it be playing his guitar or watching live music.
Kevin (known affectionately as “Cheeks” by many friends and family) will be missed deeply by many as he was a very loving son, brother, uncle and dear friend.
Surviving Kevin are his mother Mary Spielmann of Dyersville, IA ; siblings Pati Spielmann of Cornelius, NC and Pam (Rob) Knoot of Cedar Rapids, IA; nieces Sabrina Dyer of Denver, CO and Savannah Dyer of Charlotte, NC; a nephew Jonas Knoot of Cedar Rapids; many close friends and his loyal companion Blue.
He was preceded in death by his father Michael Spielmann and his brother Keith Spielmann.
The family would like to thank all of Kevin’s friends, family and neighbors who took him on trips, took care of his yard, brought food and gave him their love over the past couple years when times were tough for him.
