Catherine and Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss.
Thank you for all the wonderful childhood memories spent with your family.
Growing up in the country was much more fun having a big neighborhood family to spend my time with.
I always loved getting loaded up in the station wagon for a trip to wherever we would end up; many things I never would have been able to enjoy without being included in your family.
Jeff and I enjoyed visiting with Bob and Catherine when they were out on one of their daily walks.
I'm sure Bob will be missed by many.
Take care,
Jeff and Mary Anne Huberty

To all of the Wilhelms, particularly Bob’s wife, Catherine, and her daughter, Linda, who was in my class at Beckman, I could not be more sorry for your loss of such a good man, husband, father. Our parents, Bud and Jane Ross, along with Bob and Catherine, Bob and Fran Brunkan, Dave and Marian Brunkan, Don and Helen Meyers, and Ken and Mary Jane Moss were the best of friends, whether playing cards, talking about all of us kids and sharing challenges and solutions, or accomplishing so much for the community of Dyersville, and doing so much good, overtly and quietly, behind the scenes. They were all pillars of the community and rocks for their children and for so many others. Bob and Catherine were very special to our parents and therefore, have a special place in the hearts of the Bud and Jane Ross family. Such a legacy he has left and imparted to all of his children and future generations. I recall that I was getting into trouble around age 12, and when I shoplifted 3 random things from The Corner Drug Store, Bob caught me. He dealt with it sternly, yet gently, and I turned my life around abruptly. If he had not been there, heaven knows. I told this to Bob in 2013, and he got a good chuckle out of it! He was a Godsend to go to the store on some Sunday or Holiday when everyone else was closed to fill a prescription for a sick child in the community. This group of high-achieving men had a solid group of women behind them in their wives. Despite several of these families having many children to care for, they were givers, selfless people, who continually strived to make the world a better place. I am honored to have had Bob in my life, I am thankful that Bob and Catherine were in my parents’ lives. Singly, these couples were great, together, these couples were super heroes. May Bob’s spirit continue to live and work through all of you. God Bless,
Katie Gavin (Kathy Ross).

I so enjoyed my childhood years spending time at Uncle Bob and Aunt Catherine's home. I remember his patience and grace, and always liked watching him tinker with his train sets in the basement. He was always very welcoming, good for a witty joke and great conversation. The last time I saw him was back in 2008 for Karl and Cathy's wedding, and even after just suffering a stroke, made it to the reception and was full of smiles! I am so impressed with all of his accomplishments, as he is a mentor to us all. Rest in Peace Uncle Bob, we love you.

Catherine and family, how does one describe all the childhood into adulthood memories shared with such a wonderful family. Bob will truly be missed. That great smile, every time I walked into the drug store after school, the stories of trips to Canada, watching you grown ups play Euchre and then coming home as an adult to fill in for either Mom or Dad when one or the other couldn't play. I enjoyed the adult company more than you would ever know. I am so very sorry for your loss
and I will keep you all in my prayers. Love and hugs to all, Janet (Ross) Keating

Dear Catherine and family members,
When Our Lord called Bob by name on Tuesday, Bob reached up and clung to the hand of His master and went with Him to eternal bliss because he was a man of such deep faith. We will remember Bob because he was genuine about welcoming everyone he met along his pathway of life with a warm smile and sincere greeting. Well, well, my dear" Bobbie Socks" as I always referred to him as, you leave us with a hole in our hearts and community because you were one of the pillars of this community. You did much and asked for so little in return. As your family walks in the valley of darkness during these holidays, we will pray for all of you because we care about your pain of loss. Bob left an indelible mark on this community by manifesting his leadership. May your soul rest in peace, Bob. We will miss you but never forget you because you carved a niche in our hearts that remains steadfast. So sorry, Catherine. Do you remember how he liked to nudge me in church knowing full well that I would jump and let out a loud noise? He was in his glory at those times. Godspeed my good and faithful friend," Bobbie Socks."
