Uncle Bernie always had a smile and unique chuckle. I asked him to do a reading at my wedding and he hesitated. I didn’t realize that this would be out of his comfort zone but he agreed anyway to make me happy and he did a great job! Thank goodness he was at the rehearsal dinner because he put his fireman skills to good use! We had a birthday cake for my sister, Laura. She was blowing out the candles when her big 80s hair-sprayed hair caught on fire. Uncle Bernie, quickly thinking but without thought for his own safety, patted the fire out with his bare hands! He saved my bridesmaid and therefore my wedding day! I am so blessed to have known him! So sad for his children’s loss. I am sorry I will not be able to attend any services but will be thinking and praying for y’all!
