Dear Thier Family, Extending our sincere sympathy to you children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as we say farewell to one of the cornerstones of our neighborhood. We will pray for you as you walk in the valley of darkness, however; our faith tell us that Kay has seen the Great Light and is rejoicing in being reunited with those who have gone before her. I have some very fond memories of your dear mother. #1. I received a modern woodman Insurance award from your mom many years ago. I was honored for the work I have done in the community at the Nightlight and it was attended by many other good people. I think your mom coined the word "Ubber Driver" long before it was placed in our vocabulary. If she had charged me every time she picked me up as I walked either to or from uptown, she would be able to build an ivory tower. We can smile because she is resting in peace in the ivory tower we called Heaven. Kay, may you and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Miriam Eick

We are so blessed to have known Kay! We enjoyed our annual visit/stay during the toy show each November, and are thankful we spent time with her during this past show. We always had great conversations, and enjoyed many laughs. Our dad has traveled to Dyersville for over 40 years, and always stayed with Kay and Gus. What a gift he gave to us with the friendship he built and maintained with your family. As he says about being in the toy collecting hobby, “it’s always been about the people”. We can easily say, Kay was a big and special part of the “people”. May you all find comfort in the days ahead as you reflect on a life well lived, and all the memories you have!
