You have my sincere sympathy in the loss of your Mom. Even though you had her for many wonderful years, it doesn’t make it any easier to say good bye. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Sharon, Cassidy and Rahe Family, My condolences. Your Mom and Dad left an amazing legacy of love, tradition, memories, hard work, dedication, and cookies. Her move to Minnesota took a lot of courage but she certainly had a loving family to enjoy with less distance. I know your farewell in the Basilica will be a homecoming and farewell for all of you. Your mother's/grandmother's/great grandmother's/mother-in-law's voice will never leave you - this is something a wise funeral director told me.
I send good thoughts to all. Grief is a rocky road in these upside down times. As Lester Holt signs off his nightly news cast, "Take good care of yourself and each other."

I feel so lucky to call Rosemary Rahe my grandma. She loved her family with all her heart.
I hold tight to special memories including going to grandma and grandpa's house growing up where there was always plenty of grandma's home cooked meals and sweet treats. I loved going to church with grandma and grandpa at the Basilica especially Christmas Eve mass.
I also remember learning card games at an early age at grandma and grandpa's house and staying up past my bedtime gathered around the table playing cards, telling stories, and laughing. Grandma would tell us stories from her childhood and about life on the farm, but my favorite story is of her and Grandpa Rahe's wedding day. Their love for each other is one of a kind. I feel so lucky to be a part of the kind, loving, fun, faith-filled family that came from their love for each other.
Thank you for being the best grandma. We love and miss you so much, but know you are together with Grandpa in heaven watching over us all. Go Hawkeyes!
Love always,
Theresa and Logan Parkhurst

A note of sincere sympathy to each and every member of Rose Mary's family. When I read on the Kramer Funeral Home website that your dear mom had passed away, a dark cloud hovered over me and our neighborhood. However, this cloud lasted only for a fleeting moment because, I could look out the kitchen window straight up the street to the place Rose Mary and Tony called home, and my heart was flooded with happy memories. Your mom and dad were some very awesome neighbors as they were kind and generous with their time to family, friends, but especially to our family as neighbors. Both of them were ubber drivers for me and our boys. They took me uptown to the library or wherever I needed to go in town because I didn't drive, and In addition to that, they took the boys out to Beckman after school for sporting practice. Oh, they did this on numerous occasions never accepting any offer of payment I would make.
Your parents were so proud of you kids and did not hesitate to share with others your accomplishments. Whenever, I went up the hill to their house for a short visit, it was come on in, sit down, and I will get the coffee and cookies around. Those were some melt in your mouth cookies with nuts. I delighted in having a cookie with nuts, because no one in our household liked nuts in cookies. What a treat.
As the years moved ahead, and they had to leave their beautiful home, they donated their precious belongings to my toy project in order to brighten the lives of others. That was how they led their lives and set such example for all of us. They were truly role models because living and practicing their Catholic Faith was paramount in who they were.
My prayer is that Rose Mary can enjoy the peace and comfort of being together with Tony as one couple in the highest heavens and suffer no more the pangs of this world. They have received the greatest Christmas gift ever, the beatific vision of Our Lord.
To each and every one of you left behind, we express our sincere sympathy at the loss of your mother, grandmother, great grandmother, in-law and friend to many. We will have you in our thoughts and prayers as we move forward to a new and renewed year.
I bid you a fond farewell Rose Mary as you carved a special niche in my heart and the hearts of all the neighbors on 1 1/2 St.
May you and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. You will be missed because you touched many lives.
Sincerely meant,
Miriam and Robert Eick

I am so thankful we were able to visit Grandma Rahe last month. It has been hard not seeing her as much this year because of COVID restrictions, but I’m sure she knew how much we all loved her. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with her over the years. Landon told me that he felt as close to her as most kids do to their grandparents, which meant a lot. Growing up I didn’t really get to know my great grandparents. It was important to me that he grow up knowing not only his grandparents but his great grandparents too. After all, they were from the greatest generation.
I’ll cherish all my memories of Grandma Rahe. Our train trip to Denver, many years of Mother’s Day brunch at Beckman in Dyersville, the Dyersville St. Patrick’s Day parade, Christmas at the Basilica, Chad’s Pizza, etc. My grandparents sold the family farm and moved to town in 1990. The farm had been in the family name for over 100 years. They built a beautiful home that we filled at the holidays. I loved that time with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We would stay up late playing progressive rummy, and sit around the table drinking coffee in the morning. That house was filled with so much love, and so many good meals were served at her table! Nothing beats grandmas meatloaf, chicken stir fry, homemade bread, strawberry and raspberry jam made from her garden, applesauce, ice cream served with a peanut butter fudge sauce, pecan pie... best of all were her chocolate chip cookies. I have never been able to make them as good as hers. She would make them ahead of time and put them in the freezer in the basement. We would always sneak some out of the freezer, and eat them still frozen. They were the best! Grandma helped me make cookies for 4H when we lived in Manchester. My orange slice cookies were considered for state fair, and my sugar cookies went to state fair, getting a blue ribbon there. She had the most beautiful garden which bloomed as long as Iowa weather permits, from spring to fall.
She was the sweetest, and one of the strongest women I’ll ever know. Grandma, I know how happy you are to be reunited with Grandpa. I take comfort in that. We love and miss you #grandmarahe
