MONTICELLO, IOWA Russell J. Dirks, 63 of Monticello, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020, at his home in Monticello, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 , 2020, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. A private Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate. Russell was born March 30, 1957 in Monticello, Iowa the son of Eugene and Helen (Ommen) Dirks. He married Kristin Gassman on August 17, 1985 in Monticello. Russell enjoyed golfing, camping, his Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, and was a great enthusiast for cars. He loved his family, especially his grandkids. He lived his life to the fullest in every way. Survivors include his wife, Kristin; his two daughters: Jamie (Joe) Tubbs, and Shannon (Jason) Takes; grandchildren: Caleb, Natalie, and Logan Tubbs, and Baby Takes on the way; his mother, Helen; in-laws: Rosie (Ron) Hendricks, Kyle (Kim) Gassman, Kirk (Kim) Gassman, Kelly (Clint) Gassman, Korey, and Kitt Gassman. He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Dennis Dirks; and his parents-in-law, Paul and Joyce Gassman. The family would like to thank Above and Beyond Hospice and their staff for their compassionate care. Also a special thanks to close friends who have come to support the family during these difficult times. Lastly, a thank you to Commander Building for their support over the years.
