My heart goes out to the family and friends of David during this difficult time of loss. Please keep in mind the beautiful hope God gives us for the future in Isaiah 25:8, which states: “He will swallow up death forever, and the sovereign lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” May the God of all comfort help you to endure, remember to “throw your burden on Jehovah, and he will sustain you,” (Psalms 55:22).

So sorry to hear of David’s passing. In my years on the council Dave was always eager to help when I had questions about the city operations. The man was a wealth of knowledge , and I always considered him a good friend.

Dear Mari and family,
I could not help but notice the radiance of the glistening heavenly stars that shine upon us these days as we mourn the death of Dave. This happens because Dave lead a life that brought light to so many who knew him well;his wife, children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends, coworkers, but especially his fishing buddies. Dave delighted in challenging me to see how deep a snow bank I could muster when he would sweep by with the snowplow. The next day at city hall he would say, " I really scared you, Miriam, when you were shoveling open your drive-only to have me make a couple sweeps and fill it in again after you worked so had". We'd laughed about that oftentimes.
As all of you walk in the valley of darkness, know we are walking hand and hand with you as you say farewell to one of the greatest pillars of our community. A man well-loved and respected by a wealth of people so it is in that spirit, we extend our thoughts, prayers, and sympathy to each of you as you mourn his departure from this earth to the heavenly kingdom he so richly deserves because of the way he embraced the disease we call cancer. Dave Vorwald will be missed and but never forgotten. Sincerely meant Miriam Eick.

Mari, Jason, Jill, TJ and the entire family, so sorry for your loss. Dave was one of the funniest and nicest Dads I could remember growing up. Too many camping trips, fishing expeditions, morning paper route deliveries and sleep overs to count that I'll forever be thankful for from your entire family. My hope is that he can rest easy now and hopefully that eases the pain you're feeling in some small way. Kind Regards, Scott W.

To Dave's family I would like to say how sorry I am to hear of his passing. I can't imagine what a loss it is to you all. It is a loss to his community as well. Even though I didn't spend a great amount of time with him, the times that he welcomed me into his home left me with the impression of a fundamentally decent, hard working, self-reliant, and modest man. So on a personal level, I feel a great sense of loss as well. He set a standard for how life could be lived well and in reasonable proportion. The world needs many more people like Dave Vorwald. Unfortunately, they seem to be few and far between. We were blessed by his presence and are diminished by his passing. I pray that he rests in peace.
God speed, Dave.
