Obituary of Leon Wayne Deutmeyer
Leon W. Deutmeyer, 66, of Dyersville died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 9 – 10 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November. 29, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Petersburg. Rev. Dennis Conway will officiate.
Leon was born March 27, 1951, in Dyerville, the son of Edmund and Irma (Goedken) Duetmeyer. He graduated from special needs school in Farley, and worked at Space Joist, A.R.C., and Deutmeyer Service Station. Leon was a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and like bowling, pool with friends and the weather.
Survivors include his siblings: Frank (Joyce) Deutmeyer of Anamosa, Marilyn (Gerald) Prier of Dyersville, Joyce (William) Klosterman Brennan of Cedar Rapids, Iva Ungs of Monticello, Carol Vorwald of New Vienna, Fred (Bonnie) Deutmeyer of Dyersville Ken (Margie) Deutmeyer of Guttenberg, step brother, Herb Tegler of Dyersville, step-sister, Mary Jane (Henry) Westhoff of New Vienna, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Philip Deutmeyer, and brothers-in-law Dick Klosterman, Marvin Ungs Fred Vorwald, step-mother, Dolores Deutmeyer.
Memorials may be made to the Camp Courageous of Iowa.
