Obituary of Aloysius S. Neuhaus

Aloysius S. “Oops” Neuhaus, 87, of Dyersville died Friday, January 15, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. and an American Legion service at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 137. Rev. Jeff Dole will officiate.
Al was born July 8, 1928, in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Martha (Jacobsmeyer) Neuhaus. He married Dorothy A. Weber on October 7, 1954, in Trenton, New Jersey. Together they both served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Korean War. Al served in the Army while Dorothy was in the Navy. He was a carpenter who also worked on the City of Dyersville Street Crew. He was a member of the Dyersville Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and served on the Dyersville Commercial Club Board from 1974-1976, was inducted into the Dyersville Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1994, and also enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 137.
Survivors include his two daughters: Diane (Dave) Schuster of Dyersville, Lori (Randy) Digmann of Baraboo, WI, son-in-law, Mark Tegeler of Dyersville, 6 grandchildren: Abby (Josh) Moore, Adam (Jennifer) Schuster, Jodi Tegeler, Megan (fiancé Jordan), Kelsey and Brianna Digmann; step grandson, Jeff Tegeler, 3 step great grandchildren: Max and Maddie Tegeler and Makayla Paar.
siblings: Inez (Clair) Fannon of Edgewood, Don (Mary) Neuhaus of Dyersville,
in-laws: Marilyn Weber of Earlville, Dick Anthony of Dubuque, and Marie Neuhaus of Manchester, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy in 2012, one daughter, Deb Tegeler in 2014; siblings: Lavern Neuhaus and Joann Anthony, a brother-in-law: Art Weber, a niece, Chris Horsfield and a nephew, Steve Anthony.
