Dear friends and family of Valeria. She was our last amazing member of that wonderful Card Party Gang that gave so many of us such wonderful parties for so many years! The first one I can remember was when I was only 10, but I could actually get adult information if I listened carefully! The munchies were always so great and the coffee the hottest anywhere. Experiencing our friends and families in each others homes was the best education anywhere and instilled in us youngsters our Iowa ethics forever. Love and appreciation were utmost in our hearts as we anticipated the next party. As I prepared Valeria's birthday card this year, I got the card with the sad news. Many thanks for the the beautiful item and wonderful picture. She will be missed so very much. Much love from Patrick Nefzger.

Valeria was a dear friend and neighbor to my aunt, Viola Smith, for several years in their apartment building. Although Aunt Vi died over 15 years ago, Valeria welcomed me into her home for occasional visits since then when I was in Dyersville to see family. I so appreciated her care for my aunt, and always enjoyed her gentle, sweet spirit, and cheerful demeanor. She had an inspiring and engaging personality, and her pride in her children and grandchildren was always evident. I was especially impressed by her efforts to live healthily and exercise regularly on her bike.
I count it a blessing to have known her, and know her absence will be greatly felt. I am not able to come from Minneapolis today, but want to extend my sympathy to all who will feel her absence greatly there.

Dear John, Lori, Tammy and extended families, I am telling each one of you that I am so sorry you are saying a fond farewell to your dear mom. She was a cornerstone for our community. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers as you walk in the valley of darkness. Valeria became one of my dearest friends since we moved to Dyersville in 1987. She became a role model for me. Her faith and family were paramount in her life. I will miss doing her little loads of wash, and I remember all the rides to the library she gave me. May you rest in peace Valeria. A peace you have merited by the way you led your life for God and others. I will miss you very much.

Prayers and Sympathy as you grieve the passing of your much loved mother. We have fond memories of living as next door neighbors during our time in Dyersville. It was very evident how much she loved each of her children. She was your strongest supporter. May your memories give you joy as you pass through this time of grief. God Bless You.

Lived briefly in the same apartment bldg. as this special lady. Was a true honor to know her gentle and kind ways. Was always amazing that she rode her stationary bike 5 miles a day! She spoke often of how proud she was of each of her children and their families. So sorry for your enormous loss!

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She and Bob's mother, Clara Leigh walked Haritage Trail for years and were good friends. Clara died at 101 years old so walking has it's benefits.

Lori, John and Tammi,
Sorry to hear of your loss. The last memory I have of your mother was at a Konrardy Reunion. It was actually my first and only reunion. My dad and your mom were the only living siblings at that time. Dad and I drove together. Lori and Valeria came together and Lori brought a friend. Neither Dad nor Valeria I believe knew the other would be there. When Valeria saw Dad she was so delighted as was Dad. At that point, I lost my "date" :-) for the family home and cemetery bus tours. These two were glued together. It was a good time and they shared many things with me about their home life...like checking under their beds for snakes. ..that were wonderful insights for me.
God's blessings to you and may the other wonderful memories you have be of comfort to you.
