MONTICELLO, IOWA Paul S. Bartels, 79, of Monticello, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Shepherd Karmen Jamison. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Paul was born December 12, 1935, in Monticello the son of Herman and Florence (Moncrief) Bartels. He married Elizabeth Kohrt on Feb. 11, 1955 in Tipton, Iowa. Together they made their home in Monticello and Paul was a shipping clerk at Weyerhauser Company until retirement 1990. Paul loved stock and sprint cars and country music. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, a daughter-in-law, Teresa Bartels of Olin, one grandson, Jesse (Teresa) Manning of Fairfax, and two great-grandchildren: Laura and Rylee Manning; 2 sisters: Karen (Frances) Frommelt of Dubuque and Mary Lou (Frank) Thompson of Texas, and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kim in 2010, a sister, Shirley (John) Russ and a brother, Larry (Kathy) Bartels.
