Obituary of Lucille Amelia Vonderhaar

Lucille A. Vonderhaar, 86 of Luxemburg, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Ellen Kennedy Assisted Living Center in Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg with birial in the church cemetery. Lucille was born December 28, 1925 in rural Worthington, the 3rd of 13 children of Charles & Irene (Kelchen) Feldmann. She was educated in country schools and graduated 8th grade from St. Paul's School in Worthington. She worked for Herman Feldmann in Centrailia, from Sept. 1948-Oct. 1951 tending his store, pumping gas and general housekeeping. She married Aloysius Vonderhaar on November 6, 1951, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington. They made their home in Luxemburg. Al & Lucille shared the love of polka dancing and traveled throughout the Midwest to polka festivals. They were seen dancing for many years on the reruns of the 1989 television taping of the Big Joe Polka Show. Lucille loved to cook, play cards, cross-stitch, crochet, embroider, quilt and gardening. She always loved to hear and tell a good joke. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society, the Luxemburg Quilters and the Polka Club of Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Al, 2 daughters, JoAnn (Jim) Bell of Iowa City, Jean (Jeff) Biermann of Cascade, 1 Son Tom (Julie) Vonderhaar of Luxemburg, 3 grandchildren Tony, Jill (friend Travis Droste) and Tim Vonderhaar, 2 Brothers: Delmar (Mary Lou) Feldmann, Epworth, Leonard (Caroline) Feldmann, Cuba City, WI, Sisters-in-law: Rose Feldmann, Monticello, Imogene Feldmann, Dyersville, Margie Lehmann, Farley, Mary (Lou) Ronnebaum, Earlville, Rosella & Grace Feldmann, Worthington, 2 brother-in-law: Chuck Meyer of Dubuque & Ambrose Merkes of Luxemburg. She was preceded in death by a son James in 1965, her parents, two sisters: Marie Hall Strief & Rita Meyer, eight brothers: Francis, Raymond, Carl, Andrew, Lawrence, Leo, Thomas & Donald Feldmann, Brothers & Sister-in Laws: James Hall, Charles Strief, Millie Feldmann, Anna, Clarence, Mary Frances & Theresa Vonderhaar, Dorothy & Sylveria Merkes & Elizabeth (Joseph) Clemen. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by Hospice of Dubuque, especially Edna & Amy, Dr. Angela Kelley, Dr. Mark Hermann, Tony Heiar, Dr. David Oppert, Cookie Scherrman and the staff at the Ellen Kennedy Living Center. Memorials are preferred to the Luxemburg Building Fund or Hospice of Dubuque.
