NEW VIENNA, IOWA

Brittany Jean “Burl” Lansing, 33, of New Vienna, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa after a courageous, 10 year battle with metastatic melanoma.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville.  Visitation will continue at Kramer Funeral Home from 9 - 10 a.m. prior to funeral mass.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate with Rev. John Haugen concelebrating.

Brittany was born on March 19, 1990, in  Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Jeff Vorwald “Burly” and Brenda (Steinfadt) Vorwald.  She was a 2008 graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School, obtained a business administration degree and was a CSR/Agent at Community Insurance of Iowa in Edgewood, Iowa.  Brittany married Josh Lansing on October 28, 2017 in Edgewood, Iowa. In 2018, they welcomed their loving daughter and light of their life, Lanie Jean. Together, they fulfilled their dream, and moved to the Lansing family farm in 2022.

Brittany was a joy to be around and had an infectious smile. She always had the answers to any question; that’s why her friends called her “Google”. Brittany’s greatest joy was spending time with her daughter, Lanie, and her 2 Muskateers. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Josh, and daughter, Lanie Lansing, her parents, Burly Vorwald and Brenda Vorwald, both of Edgewood; sister, Heather (James) Rochford of Edgewood; parents-in-law, Randy and LuAnn Lansing of New Vienna, in-laws: Jason Lansing of Greeley, Amy (Seve) Rodriguez of Center Point, Adam Lansing of Farley; nieces and nephews: Lexi and Ben Ernst, Payton, Preston, Parker, Pryce Rochford, Zac and Harper Lansing, Alyssa, Addison, Tate Rodriguez; two great-nephews: Nolan and Daxton Braden; several aunts and uncles; and the remaining 2 Muskateers: Kristy Meese and Nikki Funke “Goob”.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Richard Steinfadt and Merla Groth Steinfadt Lehmann, paternal grandparents, Bob and Germaine Vorwald; uncle and godfather, Mike Vorwald.

The Lansing family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to assist with Lanie’s future

education.
