Obituary of William Joseph Lahey

Rousty was born on March 8, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of William "Butch" and Dorothy (Meyer) Lahey. He graduated Beckman H.S. with the class of 1969 and enjoyed woodworking, carving, playing softball, bowling and golfing. Rousty was also an avid collector of Santa's and baseball memorabilia. Surviving are 2 sisters: Janet "Jan" Driscoll and Donna "Tootie" Lahey, both of Cedar Rapids, his faithful dog, Moca, nieces and nephew: Julie (Troy) Haren, Kevin Driscoll and Jamie (Jeremy) Johnson; great nieces and nephews: Tyler and Justin Haren and Paige and Jordyn Johnson; uncles and aunts: Raymond (Carmen) Meyer of Biloxi, MS, Luella Tekippe of Dubuque, Katie Meyer of Farley, Babe Lahey of Dubuque, Lois Elliot of Genoa, WI, and Marc Lahey of Epworth. He is preceded in death by his father, Butch in 1977, and his mother, Dorothy in 2010 and numerous aunts & uncles. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where an American Legion Post 136 will gather at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 137. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Quint.
