When we were young and didn't have much money we all would get together on weekends at each others house to play games, play cards and tell jokes and so on. We lived in Anamosa and you lived in Monticello. This started when Michelle was about 2 and continued until little Benny was born and they moved away. He always adored his kids. Benny was quite the joke teller. Benny drove a milk truck at the time and picked up milk from the local farmers and delivered it to the creamery. This is how he met Ralph Oltmans from Anamosa. When my husband, Bill Starks, passed away in 1986 Benny drove all the way to Monticello for the funeral. I have always appreciated his loyalty to his friends. While I had lost track of him over the years he is a person you always remember with a smile.
