Obituary of Florence Mary White

Florence M. White, 100, of Dyersville, Iowa died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello, IA. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Florence was born on January 8, 1911 near Worthington, IA, the daughter of Peter Paul and Mary (Kramer) Schuster. She attended school at St. Paul School in Worthington and graduated from high school in 1929. Florence entered Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, IA and graduated in 1932. She did private duty nursing for Drs. B.C. Luehrsmann and E.F. Mueller for 20 years and later was employed in the delivery room at Xavier Hospital in Dubuque where she was a supervisor for 30 years. During this time she did part time nursing at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester, IA, serving there for 16 years. She married Ambrose Mock on November 30, 1939 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington. He died on September 9, 1949. On December 26, 1960 Florence married Anton White at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. He died on March 3, 1988 Florence loved her nursing profession, children, gardening and flowers, doing fancy work and traveling to different countries. Survivors include two sons: Kenneth Mock of Spokane, WA and Eugene Mock of Torrance, CA; six grandchildren: Michele Mock of San Diego, CA, Stephen Mock of Austin, TX, Jeffrey Mock, of Gardena, CA, Cary Mock and Chris Mock both of Los Angeles, and Jennifer Gleason of Parker, CO; 3 great grandchildren: Amanda Gleason, Veronica and Jimmy Mock. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Andrew Schuster and Wilfred Schuster and her sister, Irene Feltes.
