WORTHINGTON, IOWA
Del Rose E. Ostwinkle, 85, of Worthington, Iowa died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, Iowa.
Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington, IA with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Del Rose was born November 12, 1927, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Alma (Klein) Tobin. She finished high school and earned her teaching certificate and taught for a few years in an area country school. She married Ernest Ostwinkle on November 12, 1948, in Worthington, Iowa. She began working at the Ertl Company and eventually became the Clerk at the Dyersville Sale Barn and was the City Clerk at Worthington from 1955 - 1993. She enjoyed crafts like crocheting and needlework, and watching the Cubs. She also liked the social outlets of Bingo, cards and going to the boat.
Survivors include her 4 sons: Michael "Mickey" (Jayne) Ostwinkle, Darryl Ostwinkle, both of Worthington and Dean (Deb) Ostwinkle of Hopkinton, Dennis (Sandy) Ostwinkle of Richland, IA; a daughter-in-law, Julie Ostwinkle of Worthington, 8 grandchildren: Todd and Troy Ostwinkle, Chris and Brian (friend Shanice Nieto) Ostwinkle, Abby (Joe) Bonert and Ashley (Andy) Geiger, Stephanie and Rachael (friend Justin Feldmann) Ostwinkle; 8 great grandchildren: Hayden and Hunter Ostwinkle, Camber and Connor Ostwinkle, Cody Witham, Chloe Ostwinkle and Caleb and Claire Bonert;
4 sisters: Gladys Jaeger and Darlene (Carey) Ahlers, both of Worthington, Shirley Rave of Farley, and Margie Althoff of Manchester; 2 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Tobin of Worthington and Mary Ostwinkle of Epworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest in 1974, a daughter, Juanita "Nita" Ostwinkle in 2005, and a son, Ronald in 1998; a brother, Alfred Tobin in 2005; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Gilbert Rave, Eugene "Ede" Tobin, Clarence Althoff, Robert Jaeger, Leo (Doris), Alfred (Anna Mae), Bill, Barney, Jack, Margaret and Delores Ostwinkle, Marie (Fred) Turnis Lucille (Urbain) Ludwig and Katherine (Leon) Ludwig.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Shady Rest Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care of Mom.
