Obituary of Eleanor Irene Becker

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Eleanor I. Becker, 98, of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. Eleanor was born May 3, 1914 in Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of John and Emily (Bauer) Kainz. She graduated from Xavier High School in 1933 and earned a teaching certificate at the University of Dubuque. She married Bernard (Ben) Becker on May 26, 1936 in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they farmed in Clayton County until 1945 and then moved to the Becker family farm near Dyersville. They retired in 1972 to the Clayton County farm. Survivors include her children: Joyce (Frank) Steindl of Stillwater, OK, Gary Becker of West Seneca, NY, Paul (Linda) Becker of Dyersville, and Kathy (Joe) Schoening of Rockford, IL, daughter-in-law, Joyce Becker of Dyersville, 15 grandchildren: David (Patti), Andrew (Cyndee), Peter, and Matthew (Katie) Steindl, Jude and Abby Becker, Scott (Ellen), Jamie Becker, Joy (James) Kaminski, Gretchen Becker, Jessica (Wade) Allen, Zac and Andrea Becker, Krista and Michael Schoening, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 1986, son John Becker in 2003, daughter-in-law, Barbara Becker, siblings: Clara Wolf, Ernest Kainz, Rudy Kainz, Leo Kainz, Josephine Goedken, in-laws: Leona Osterhaus, Sister Rita Clare Becker, Rev.
