NEW VIENNA, IOWA
Thomas J. Hoeger, 77, of New Vienna died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.
Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Tues. Oct. 23, 2012, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Dyersville Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate.
Tom was born July 5, 1935, in New Vienna the son of Leo F. and Pauline (Diers) Hoeger. He married Marlene Kann on April 7, 1970, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. Together they enjoyed the privledge of farming on the family farm north of New Vienna. He took great pride in caring for the land and livestock and managing the Century Farm. Although he loved the land, his greatest love was his family.
Tom was an active member of St. Boniface Parish and it's Holy Name Society.
Tom is survived by his wife, Marlene, 3 children: Renee (Jeff) Riesberg and Tanya (Terry) Ostwinkle, both of Dyersville and Thomas T. (Jean) Hoeger of New Vienna; 6 grandchildren: Allison (fiance Tim Wieneke) and Anthony Riesberg, Trae, Tyler, Tanner and Tenley Ostwinkle; a sister, Phyllis Wille of Monona, a brother, Fred (Irene) Hoeger of Holy Cross, a sister-in-law, Ann Marie Kann of Dubuque, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean (George) Friedmann and 5 brothers: Harold, Leo H. (Ileen), LaVerne (Elizabeth), Cyril, and William (Ruth) Hoeger; 2 brothers-in-law; Jerome Wille and Ronald Kann, and his parents-in-law, Theodore and Mathilda Kann.
Memorials are preferred.
