Survivors include his wife, Margie; four sons: Randy (Sue) Helle of Earlville, IA, Tom (Barb) Helle and Russ (Toni) Helle both of Guttenberg, IA, Kevin Helle of Dyersville, IA; three daughters: Sandy (John) Auer and Nancy (Matt) Witham both of Guttenberg, IA Susan (Tim) Muilenburg of Marion, IA; 16 grandchildren; three brothers: Art (Germaine) Helle of Greeley, IA, Greg (Rosie) Helle of Edgewood, IA, Dick (Connie) Helle of Peosta, IA; his mother-in-law, Lottie Keppler, of Edgewood, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Don (Cathy) Keppler of Manchester, IA, Dick (Marce) Keppler of Strawberry Point, IA, Kay (Jim) Hinners of Fort Dodge, IA, Joyce (Stan) McBurnett of Enid, OK, Deb (Mark) Rima of Strawberry Point, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William Helle, and his father-in-law, Leonard Keppler. Matt was born on May 27, 1938 in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Matthias P. and Otilla (Gosen) Helle. He married Margaret (Margie) Keppler on September 22, 1959 in Edgewood, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Guttenberg area until 1996. They moved to New Vienna in 1992, continued farming and in 1993 began employment at Lukan Service Station in New Vienna. He was on the Co-op Oil Company Board for 23 years, New Vienna Mutual Insurance Board eight years, New Vienna City Council four years, and a member of St. Boniface Holy Name Society. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque County. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Hospice of Dubuque County, especially Amy C., for their compassion, care and concern.
