He is survived by his wife, Helen, 3 sons: Steven First of Milwaukee, WI, Dr. Philip (Christine) First of Monticello, IA and Timothy (Sherry) First of Largo, FL; 1 daughter, Debra (Dave) Joosten of Cedar Rapids, IA; 6 grandchildren: Scott (Kelly) First, Christine First (Ken Schemph), Kiley (Dana) Eisenman, Brian First, Heather Joosten, Carson and Logan First; 1 great grandson, Conner Eisenman; 2 brothers: Robert First of Monticello, IA and Eugene (Laverne) First of Cedar Rapids, IA. Clifford was born October 3, 1919, in Monticello, IA the son of Walter and Margaret (Reuter) First. He married Helen Vesey on January 5, 1945 at St. Matthews Church in Monticello, Iowa. Clifford graduated from Lenox College in Hopkinton, IA. He became a bookkeeper for several years and then became a bricklayer, primarily for Seedorf Masonry of Strawberry Point and for Paulson Construction in Cedar Rapids. Clifford and Helen owned and operated the Rocky Nook Resort in Delhi, IA for many years where he loved to fish and do woodworking. They wintered in Florida for 21 years after retirement. Memorials are preferred and will go to the Alzheimer's Association.
