Lois A. Scherbring, 50, of Dyersville, Iowa died Thursday, March 11, 2004, surrounded by family and friends at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, after a lengthy illness. Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 3:00 p.m. and the Catholic Daughters of America rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Loecke. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Epworth, Iowa. Lois was born on February 24, 1954 in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of Sylvester and Marie (Lehman) Steffen. She married Frank Scherbring on August 5, 1989 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth. She worked at Dyersville Progress and later at LeRoy's Pizza. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Marian prayer group. She had a great love for her dog "Snuggles" and spent many hours playing the organ. Survivors include her husband, Frank; one sister, Norma Jean (Dale 'Louie') Kean of Cascade, IA; two brothers, Lloyd (Jane) Steffen of Dubuque, IA, Loras (Wendy) Steffen of Coralville, IA; 12 nieces and nephews, and a number of great-nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Dorothy (Delbert) Burkle and Tom (Diane) Scherbring, both of Dyersville, IA, Alice (Harold) Schilling of Colesburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Marie; a brother, Robert, May 8, 1967; her grandparents, Paul and Anna Lehman and Clem and Catherine Steffen. The family wishes to thank Hospice, Amy Sheila, Edna and her extended family at the Ellen Kennedy Living Center and her niece, Sue Rausch, and Lois Olberding for their concern, help and love during Lois' illness.
