Obituary of Gary Evers

Survivors include his wife, Jane; three sons, Scott (Kristi) Evers of Eden Prairie, MN, Aaron (Jennifer) Evers and Bradd Evers, both of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Paula Evers of Dubuque, IA; 8 grandchildren, Erik, Zachary, Craig, Kenny, Emily, Haley, Brooke, and Benjamin Evers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary was born on November 10, 1941 in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Gilbert F. and Clarinda M. (Lasche) Evers. He married Jane Dolphin on February 5, 1964 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. Gary worked at Evers Food Store and ran the meat department from 1964 - 1970. He owned and operated the Earlville Locker from 1970 - 1985 and began what is now Evers Toy Store in 1977. He retired January 1, 2004 when his daughter, Paula, bought the store. His enthusiasm for the toy business continued through on-line auctions at home. Since retirement he began driving school and charter buses. Gary and Jane loved visiting their children and grandchildren, camping and traveling in their motor home. A Gary Evers Memorial Fund has been established and memorials are preferred.
