Al was born January 18, 1927 in Dyersville, Iowa the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Claus) Thier. He married Donna Offerman on June 7, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, Iowa. Together they farmed the family's Century Farm NE of Dyersville until retirement. He was a life long member of St. Francis Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1734. Survivors include his wife Donna, 2 sons, Larry Thier of Farley and Patrick & Karen Thier of Olympia, Washington. 3 daughters, Kathy & Kevin Mensen of Dyersville, Suzanne & Kerwin Burt of Waterloo and Karolyn at home. 7 Grandchildren, Douglas, Robbie and Brad Mensen, Joshua Thier, Trey, Kalen and Sierra Burt. 1 brother, Don & Mary Thier of Dyersville Al was preceded in death by an infant son Carl, his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Thier, 2 brothers, Cletus and Richard Thier, and a sister, Virginia Gross. The Parish Scripture Service will be recited at 4 p.m. and the K of C Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
