Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; one son, Ron (Bev) Ploessl of North Buena Vista, IA; one daughter, Deanna Ploessl of Holy Cross, IA; 5 grandchildren: Dan, Jeff, Mitch, Dusty and David Ploessl; 3 great-grandchildren: Becca, Bryce and Danielle Ploessl; 5 brothers: Laverne (Rita) of Balltown, Alvin, Andrew, Jr. (Mary), James, John (Lorene) all of Dubuque, IA; two sisters: Pearl Klein of Dubuque, IA, Joan (Jim) Paisley of Balltown, IA; one brother-in-law, Marvin Brimeyer of Sherrill, IA; one sister-in-law, Eldora Ploessl of Holy Cross, IA; He was preceded in death by two sisters, an infant and Mary Brimeyer; four brothers: Edwin, Francis, and two infant brothers, Louis and Joseph; and one brother-in-law, Merlin "Jim" Klein. Don was born on July 9, 1928 in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Eleanor (Brunsmann) Ploessl. He married Rosemary C. Stoffel on April 10, 1956 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rickardsville, Iowa. Don was a life long farmer in North Buena Vista and Rickardsville, Iowa before retiring in Holy Cross. His grandsons were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed his morning coffee and cards at Noonan's and spending time, especially cutting hay, on his son and nephew's farms. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 774. Special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque County, Brother Stephen Markham and Father Tom Zinkula for all their care and kindness they gave to Donnie and his family. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque County.
