Laura E. Thuman age 86 of Scotch Grove passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade after an extended illness. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 2 to 7 p.m.at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a parish scripture service will be held 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory. Laura was born on July 31, 1918, in rural Prairieburg, Iowa, the daughter of Albert & Elizabeth Holub. She married Richard G. Covington who preceded her in death. She later married Louis Thuman. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, crocheting and cooking. She especially enjoyed her family and friends. Laura is survived by her husband Louis of Cascade, two sons: Richard (Lila) Covington of Monticello and William Covington of Mountain View, MO. one daughter Diane (Scott) LeClere of Monticello. 10 grandchildren: Michael Covington, Deb Nefler, Preston Covington, Bill Covington, Buckley Covington, Bryan Covington, Laurie Chapman, Rick Covington, Shawna Avery and Chad Avery. 21 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Two brothers: Bob (Arlene) Holub of Prairieburg and Steve (Beth) Holub of Rock Island. One sister: Dorothy (James) Erishman of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son James, one grandson Bradley Covington, one brother Lester Holub and a sister-in-law Edna Pegorick.
