Obituary of Clarence Bockenstedt

Clarence was born September 14, 1925 in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Thomas C. and Agatha (Bohenkamp) Bockenstedt. He married Alice Jaeger on January 10, 1953 in Holy Cross, Iowa. They farmed until retirement in 1991. He was a member of the St. Boniface Holy Name Society, a Lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 7736, a 50 year member of Legion Post 137 and a Honory Life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1734. Clarence was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed playing cards at the V.F.W. Club and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Alice; 5 daughters; Joan (Dennis) Kloser of Webster City, IA, Ann (Dennis) Finn of Dubuque, IA, Elaine (Brad) Perrinjaquet and Mary (David) Fisher both of Edgewood, IA and Barb (Paul) Maiers of Holy Cross, IA; 3 sons; Dan (Peggy) Bockenstedt of Evansville, WI, Joe Bockenstedt and Bill (Shelly) Bockenstedt both of New Vienna, IA: 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 1 brother; Laverne "Toby" (Dula) Bockenstedt of Colesburg, IA and 2 sisters; Grace (John) Kirsch and Alice Bockenstedt both of Dyersville, IA. Also surviving are 3 sisters-in-law: Virgene Bockenstedt of Dyersville, IA, Betty (Bernie) Weber of Dubuque, IA, and Jan Bergan of Edgewood, IA. Clarence was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Eugene and Martin Bockenstedt. The Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m., the Parish Scripture Service will be recited at 5:00 p.m., and the Legion and V.F.W. Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. V.F.W Post 7736 and American Legion Post 137 will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
