Patricia A. Demmer, 58, of Dyersville, Iowa died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Pat was born September 29, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Lucille (Steffensmeier) Prier. She married Dale Demmer on May 19, 1973 in New Vienna, Iowa. Pat worked for 17 years at the Jenk Law Office and for the past 5 years she has been at American Trust & Savings Bank as a CSR. Survivors include her husband, Dale, 3 children: Randy (Pam) Demmer of Dyersville, Terry (Jolee) Demmer of Dubuque and Chris Demmer of Marion, her father, Eugene Prier of New Vienna; grandchildren: Tyler, Haley & Kayla Demmer, and Lauren Demmer; siblings: Elaine (Clete) Urbain of Dyersville, Janice (Wayne L.) Steffen of New Vienna, David Prier of Marina, CA, Carl (Julie) Prier of New Vienna, Wayne (Beverly) Prier of Dyersville, Dale (Sandy) Prier of Hopkinton, Allen (Joyce) Prier of Elkader, Mark (Annette) Prier of Dubuque, Daniel (Kim) Prier and Donald (Christine) Prier, both of Dyersville; in-laws: Mark Hermsen of Dubuque, Norma Tauke and Gary (Kay) Demmer both of Dyersville, Donna (Charles) Vaske of New Vienna. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille, one sister, Lois Hermsen, mother and father-in-law: John A. and Evelyn Demmer, and a brother-in-law, Ken Tauke. Our family's request is that, instead of memorials, please do something nice for your loved ones by giving your special someone some flowers or a nice gift in Pat's memory. Dale loved Pat more than the world and enjoyed being able to give her something special that brightened her day and filled her eyes with tears of joy; that was what he always wanted. We would like to thank the wonderful medical staffs at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque Internal Medicine, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for your excellent and skilled care and especially for "bringing your hearts into the room." Friends may call from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
