Surviving are his wife, June, of Scotch Grove, 5 daughters: Janet Buol of Hiawatha, IA Jeri (Greg) Smith of Iowa City, IA, Jill (Dan) Krapfl of Coggon, IA, Jayne (Don) Lyons of Denison, IA and Jacqueline Buol of North Liberty, IA; 6 grandchildren, Devin & Trevor Smith, Nate, Nick & Teala Krapfl and Robert Lyons; 1 sister, Lorraine (Virgil) Haag of Monticello, IA, a brother, Edwin Buol of Gateway, Ark, an aunt, Edna Buol of Monticello, and his dog and companion, Taffy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Lavern, John, Jr. and Marvin Buol, and 1 sister, Elaine Stoneking. Bob was born July 27, 1924, in Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Lemmer) Buol. He attended Richland Township School and Monticello High School where he played football, and graduated with the class of 1942 as Salutatorian. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello where, at age 16 he was confirmed as an elder. He married June Henrichs at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello on September 11, 1955. Together they farmed in the Scotch Grove area and later moved to Center Junction where he became the manager of the Center Junction Coop. He then purchased and operated Onslow Feed and Grain. Retirement brought them back to Scotch Grove where he enjoyed several part time jobs. Bob was a member of the Jones County Farm Service Board and the Midland Council of Churches Board. He was also an elder at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church for many years, was treasurer and taught Sunday School for 17 years. He always enjoyed Bluegrass music, traveling with his wife, June, to Bluegrass Festivals in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. He operated the soundboard for SPBGMA at many of those festivals. A Robert J. Buol memorial fund has been established.
