Germaine M. Wedewer, 91, of Dubuque and formerly of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Dubuque Retirement Community, Dubuque, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 - 8 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a CD of A and American Legion Auxiliary rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish scripture service will be held at p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate with Rev. Fred Fangmann concelebrating. Germaine was born December 20, 1919, in Petersburg, IA, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Rolling) Mormann. She married Edward E. Wedewer on September 18, 1939 in Petersburg, Iowa. While raising their four children, Germaine also acted as the controller for the Ed Wedewer Construction Co. which was started after Ed's return from his service overseas in Germany in WWII. In 1963, she and Ed built and operated the Colonial Motel in Dyersville, which they often said helped to put their four children through college - a life-long goal of Germaine. Survivors include four children: Ruth (Elmer) Rausch of Jackson, TN, Thomas (Ann) Wedewer of Las Vegas, NV, Nancy (Bill) Feld of Dayton, OH, and Linda (Brian) Southwood of Dubuque, IA, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and a special nephew, Fr. Fred Fangmann: in-laws: Donald (Marabeth) Wedewer of Tallahassee, FL. and Robert Wedewer of Freehold, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward in 1998, infant son at birth, 14 siblings: Leanda Fangmann, Raymond Mormann, Henry Mormann, Ardella Mormann, Olga Boge, and half siblings: Andrew Mormann, Clara Roling, Bernard Mormann, Rose Margaret Althoff, John Mormann, Emma Ovel, William Mormann Sr, Mary Arens and Eleanor Blum.
