Survivors include her daughter Suzanne (James) Callahan of Worthington, 2 granddaughters: Cheryl Callahan of Dubuque, IA and Jamie Callahan of Worthington, grandson Kevin Callahan of Benton Harbor, MI, 3 sisters: Helen Garnner of Bloomfield, MO, Ilo Boyle of Belleville, IL and Iva Lee (Neal) Noonan of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,Thomas, a grandson Patrick Callahan, 3 sisters: Vivian Skaife, Evelyn Noel and Ruth Marshal and 3 brothers: Russel, Roland and Raymond Friedlein. Arlene was born on August 19, 1918 in Guttenburg, Iowa, the daughter of August and Martha (Kohler) Friedlein. She grew up in Missouri then later moved to Dubuque with her sister Evelyn in 1935. Together they worked at the Burden Family Home at Four Mounds. Arlene married Thomas J. Kramer in October 12, 1948 in Little Rock, Ark. She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home until 1982 when her husband passed away. Arlene then moved to Worthington with her daughter and family. Friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 15, 2005, at Linwood Cemetery Chapel in Dubuque, Iowa where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Melissa Warren Spoerl officiating. Burial will directly follow at Linwood Cemetery. Memorials are prefered and may be sent to Kramer Funeral Home at 103 5th St SE, Dyersville, IA 52040
