Kathryn was born on August 22, 1909 in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Steffen) Ament. She graduated St. Francis Xavier Girls School and attended the Art Institute and Photography school in Chicago, IL. Kathryn owned and operated Hyland Studio in Dyersville for many years. Her parents, 2 brothers, Ambrose and Melvin Ament, and a sister, Martha Jane Ament preceded her in death.
