Eldon I. Tjaden, 91, of Monticello died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate. Eldon was born May 9, 1921, in Monticello, Iowa the son of Edward and Mary (Greenwood) Tjaden. He married Edith Willimack in 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming, IA. He attended Coyne Electrical College near Chicago and returned to the Onslow area and began doing electrical work with his brother for many of the area farmers. He and Edith farmed near Onslow. He is survived by his son, Paul E. Tjaden of Janesville, WI, a daughter, Linda Jo Tjaden of Rochester Hills, MI, 3 granddaughters: Jessica Lynn Tjaden of Milwaukee, WI, Kathryn Jo Tjaden of Minneapolis, MN and Laura Jean Tjaden of Whitewater, WI, and 2 sisters, Frances (Paul) Andre of Shakopee, MN, JoAnn (Glen) Smith of Ames, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law, Agnes Tjaden of Monticello and Betty Tjaden of Wyoming, IA. He is preceded in death by 1 sister: Helen (Ray) Driscoll and 3 brothers: Edward, Dale, LaVern Tjaden.
