Obituary of Louis Bernard Kramer

Survivors include 6 sons: Marvin (Jean) Kramer of Farley, Vernon (Beulah) Kramer of Naples, FL, Bernard (Mary) Kramer of Mesa, AZ, Ronald (Joan) Kramer of Epworth, Daniel Kramer, David (Lisa) Kramer all of Dyersville; 1 daughter Margery (Jim) Grawe of Marion; one son-in-law Daniel (Mary Ann) Otting of Waukon; 43 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Coletta, his daughter Helen Otting; twin great grandsons Alex and Andrew Krapfl; 4 brothers: Ed, Matt, Charlie and Aloysius, and 5 sisters: Leanna Leibold, Kate Demmer, Rose Joester, Agnes Olberding and Mathilda Kramer. Born the son of Clem and Catherine (Klostermann) Kramer on July 24, 1907, he married Coletta V. Evers on January 26, 1932 in Dyersville. Coletta died on November 17, 1999. Louie and Coletta farmed in the Dubuque and Delaware counties until their retirement in 1974. After retiring Louie worked for Greiner's Hardware Store in Worthington, Iowa and Links Golf Course in Dyersville and then did odd jobs until age 88. Louie loved to make people laugh, talk about the olden days and sing. Louie was a loving husband, father and grandfather, he loved it when his grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit him. The Kramer families want to express their sincere thanks to Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville for their exemplary care for our father and generosity and kindness to our families. Heritage Manor, Dubuque and the Ellen Kennedy Center in Dyersville. Also a heartfelt thanks to Cookie Scherrman of Dyersville and Hospice of Dubuque, Louie's Hospice Nurses, Dorothy and Kevin; they were truly angels of mercy. The Kramer families would also like to acknowledge the American Legion in Farley and the VFW of New Vienna for their support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 - 9 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. and the Farley American Legion will gather at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 23 2006, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Loecke.
