Survivors include his 2 daughters: Anita (Don) Manternach of Cascade and Karen (Garey) Salyars of Stanwood, IA., 4 sons: David (Thelma) of New Vienna, Rick (Jane) of Dubuque, Ken (Marge) of Dyersville and Roy (Carolyn) of Worthington, 35 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, 1 brother, Edwin "Bud"of Dyersville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy in 1989, one daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Paul) Domeyer, one granddaughter, Debbie Domeyer, 5 brothers: Gregor, Hugo, Lawrence, Alphonse, and Vincent in infancy, 5 sisters: Mary Wessels, Dorothy Wessels, Hilda Klosterman, Catherine Hoefer and Celia Lindauer. Alois was born on June 21, 1914 in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Clara (Hullerman) Oberbroeckling. He married Dorothy C. Lansing on June 1, 1937 in New Vienna, Iowa. Al farmed his entire life in New Vienna until his retirement in 1978. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, politics and his favorite T.V. show, "Wheel of Fortune". Al especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchild. Special thanks to the staff at Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Ennoble Manor and Hospice.
