Obituary of Jean Anna Friedmann

Jean Anna was born December 3, 1921 in New Vienna, the daughter of Leo F. and Pauline (Diers) Hoeger. On June 5, 1945 she married George J. Friedmann at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna. Together they farmed in the New Vienna area until retirement in 1981. She was a member of the St. Boniface Altar Society. Jean's life centered around her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for gatherings and quilting. She is survived by 4 sons: Thomas (Dianne) of Luxemburg, Iowa, and Daniel (Marilyn), New Vienna, Iowa, Michael (Becky) and Steve (Mary Jo) both of Dyersville; 3 daughters: Georgina (Bob) Mensen and Marcia (Bruce) Kelchen, both of New Vienna, and Ruth (Brent) Manternach of Worthington, Iowa, 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Wille of Monona, Iowa and 2 brothers: Fred (Irene) Hoeger of Holy Cross, Iowa and Tom (Marlene) Hoeger, of New Vienna, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, a granddaughter, Annette Mensen, 5 brothers, Cyril, Harold, Leo H., LaVerne, and William Hoeger; and several brothers-and-sisters-in-laws. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Amy and Sheila for their wonderful and compassionate care, and also the staff at Manor Care Health Services. Memorials are preferred to St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna.
