Surviving are 4 daughters: Betty (Eugene) Hefel of Balltown, Sr. Alice Errthum OSF of Dubuque, Janet (Wayne) Engelken of Greeley, Mary (Mark) McDermott of Epworth; 3 sons: Marvin (Patti), Jerry (Debbie) and Dick Errthum, all of Holy Cross; 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Leona (John) Cook of New Vienna and Ceil Schueller of Dubuque and a sister-in-law, Alberta Freiburger of St. Catherine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony in 1991, a son, Dennis in 1956, a great grandson, Matthew Hefel in 1997, a sister, Bernita Wagner, a brother, Cletus Meyer, and several brothers-and-sisters-in-laws. Anna was born July 26, 1916 in Holy Cross, Iowa the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Gotto) Meyer. She attended Country Schools in the Holy Cross area until 8th Grade. She married Anthony "Tony" Errthum on November 14, 1939 in Holy Cross. Together they farmed in the Holy Cross area until they retired. She was a member of the Holy Cross Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 881. She was a very gracious and hospitable hostess, always welcoming her friends and family into her home. Anna M. Errthum, 91, of Stonehill Care Center and formerly of Holy Cross, Iowa died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Stonehill after a sudden illness. Friends may call from 2 - 9 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, Iowa, which will be preceded by a COF Rosary. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Raymond Burkle will officiate. The family wishes to thank the Sisters and staff at Stonehill Care Center for their excellent care and compassion shown toward our mother and us over these last years. An Anna Errthum Memorial Fund has been established.
