Survivors include 7 daughters: Janice M. (Robert) LeGrand of Holy Cross, LaVonne T. (Earl) Brimeyer and Carol A. Errthum, both of North BuenaVista, Donna M. (Robert) Schmidt of Durango, Connie A. (Jim) Klein of Dubuque, Iowa, Sherry R. (Mick) Klein of Holy Cross, Cindy S. (Paul) Ludovissy of North Buena Vista; 2 sons: David F. (Nancy) of Durango and Ronald B. (Marilyn) of Holy Cross; 37 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 5 step great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Raymond Ellerbach of Holy Cross, a brother-in-law Francis Schultz and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Schultz, both of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law, Nick Errthum, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild, brothers and sisters: Agatha Roling, Loretta Henkels, Marcella Roling, Alvina Brimeyer and Francis Ellerbach, and several brothers-and-sisters-in-laws. Emma was born on May 21, 1918 in Holy Cross Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Sophia (Oberbroeckling) Ellerbach. She married Clarence L. Schultz on January 16, 1940 in Holy Cross, Iowa and together they farmed in the Holy Cross area until moving to town in 1960. He preceded her in death in 1988. Emma cooked at Holy Cross/Leo High School for 21 years. She was a member of the Holy Cross Altar & Rosary Society. Gardening and quilting were favorite pastimes as was playing cards. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. John Whalen and his staff, and Dr. Karin Loukinen and her staff for all of the wonderful care you provided over the years, the Holy Cross EMS and the staff at Finley Hospital, especially Jared, for their special care and concern. Emma M. Schultz, 89, of Holy Cross, Iowa died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa after a brief illness. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday December 7, 2007, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross. Friends may continue to call Saturday after 9:30 a.m. at the Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Holy Cross, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Burkle.
