Obituary of Bernice A Lansing

She is survived by a son Don (Becky) Lansing of Dyersville; daughters Mary Lou (Bill) Thomas of Dyersville, Betty (Jim) Boeckenstedt of Dyersville, and Carol (George) Davis of Farley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers La Verne Kramer of Lamont, IA and Herbert Kramer of Dyersville; and sisters Lorraine Kramer of Dyersville, Martha Jane Demmer of Farley, and Arlene Jaeger of Dyersville She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; two children in infancy Richard and Darlene; sisters Evelyn Winters, Mercedes Ries and Marcella Kramer; and brothers Ray, Leonard, Clarence and Joe. Bernice was born on January 1, 1919 in Farley, IA to Joseph and Mary (Oberbroeckling) Kramer. She married LaVerne Lansing on January 10, 1939 in Farley. He died in November of 1982. Together they farmed near Dyersville until their retirement in 1982 when they moved to town. Their farm would later become the site of the movie "Field of Dreams". Bernice enjoyed playing cards, gardening and flowers, especially her lilac tree which so many people raved about. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center where she was a member of The Martha's. She loved to spend time with her family and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren Bernice died Monday, December 31, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA, following a brief illness.
