Harvey H. Brimeyer, 74, of North Buena Vista, Iowa, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque after a brief illness following a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Harvey was born September 10, 1933, in North Buena Vista, Iowa, the son of Fritz and Hilda (Tschirgi) Brimeyer. He married Shirley Breitbach on January 11, 1958, in North Buena Vista. He retired in 1988 after 30 years at John Deere, remained active on the farm until his illness prevented him from doing so. He was an Army veteran serving in France during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Guttenberg Knights of Columbus, Millville AmVets and UAW Local 94. Socializing with family and friends is what Harvey enjoyed the most. Each of his children and grandchildren felt they were his favorite and as he would say, "I want a dozen more…. just like you!" He had a talent for telling great stories, with a knack for making those around him laugh. Whether he was on the farm, playing euchre or driving around the countryside delivering watercress, when asked, "How are you?" his reply was always, "Good!!!" He enjoyed his weekly lunches with his brothers, sisters and friends. He had an appreciation for nature and conservation while spending his spare time gardening and fishing. Survivors include his wife Shirley, 3 daughters: Christine Ross of Holy Cross, Iowa, Pam (Sam) Steffen of Luxemburg, Iowa, and Sue (Bill) Scherbring of Manchester, Iowa; 3 sons: Jeff (Donna) Brimeyer of North Liberty, Iowa, Doug (Jan) Brimeyer of Jackson, Wyoming, and Fred (Judy) Brimeyer of North Buena Vista, Iowa; one daughter in law, Maritza (Max) Brimeyer Quezada, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 4 sisters: Stella (Matt) Hefel of Holy Cross, Iowa, Mildred (Norb) Tressel of Dubuque, Iowa, Carol (Rex) Ellsworth of Caro, Michigan and Laura (Leon) Sigwarth of Holy Cross, Iowa; 2 brothers: Greg (Carol) Brimeyer of Dyersville and Earl (LaVonne) Brimeyer of Holy Cross, Iowa; sister-in-law: Ginny Brimeyer of LaVista, Nebraska; sisters-and-brothers-in-law: Anna Marie Jestel of Davenport, Iowa, Doris Whelan of Dubuque, Iowa, Dave (Mary Lynne) Breitbach of North Buena Vista, Iowa, Mary (Don) Ludovissy of Holy Cross, Iowa and Mary Lou Breitbach of Dubuque, Iowa He was preceded in death by a son, Paul H.
