Obituary of Marie Rosella Maiers

Survivors include: 3 sons: Rick (Sarah) Maiers of Oxford, Iowa, Ronald (Sue) Maiers of Holy Cross, Iowa and Donald (Becky) Maiers of Dyersville, Iowa; 4 daughters: Diane (Dale) Brown of Edgewood, Iowa, Debbie (Jerry) Errthum of Holy Cross, Iowa, Sandi Boardman (special friend Bill Willenborg) of Guttenberg, Iowa and Karen (Randy) Backes of Guttenberg, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law: Starla (Harry) Schuster, Janie Maiers, Verdie Engling, Dorothy (George) Mihm and Ginny Engling. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1991, a daughter, Mary Ann in infancy; 2 sisters: Clara (Art) Jaeger and Catherine (Bob) Palm; 3 brothers; Walter, Francis and Hubert Engling; 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy (Francis) Tauke and a brother-in-law, Elmer Maiers. Marie was born April 18, 1920, in North Buena Vista, Iowa the daughter of Henry P. and Catherine (Steines) Engling. She married Lawrence Peter Maiers on June 20, 1939, in North Buena Vista, Iowa. They farmed in the Holy Cross, Iowa area until their retirement. Marie was active in the Dyersville Senior Center, bingo, quilting, cards and a member of the Order of Martha. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where an Order of Martha Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. the Parish Scripture Service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23. 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Rev. Phil Kruse will officiate. Marie R. Maiers, 88 of Dyersville, Iowa, died Saturday April 19, 2008 at Edgewood Convalescent Center in Edgewood, Iowa after a brief illness.
