Surviving are her husband, Rudy of Silvercrest in Anamosa, she was a loving mother to Caroline (Robert) Burrack of Belleville, Ill., Randy (significant other Judy Dumond) Monk of Monticello and Onalee (Michael) Marx of Monroe, Wis.; 6 grandchildren: Kenda Pulchaski, Kameron Burrack, Stacy Chalupski, Russell Monk, Matthew Marx and Caroline Marx, and 1 great grandchild Blake Chalupski. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward and Harold Boss, and a sister, Faye Schneiter. Marion was born October 13, 1922, in Southern Delaware County, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Carrie (Zumbach) Boss. She attended country school in Delaware County. After school she did housework for families in Coggon and in the Monticello area. Marion was a waitress for Good's Restaurant in Monticello where she met her future husband. Marion married Rudolph E. Monk on July 16, 1942 in Monticello, Iowa. Marion was a visible partner in the family business where she worked beside her husband on a daily basis, as they owned and operated REM Electric since 1946. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marion always had a needle and thread in her hands when she was able to do embroidery. She loved to travel internationally and in their motor home. Family was always very important to her. She loved to entertain her family and friends and used recipies from her extensive cookbook collection Marion M. (Boss) Monk, 85, of Silvercrest of Anamosa and formerly of Monticello died Wednesday, May 07, 2008, at Silvercrest. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate. Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to St. Matthew's Church or Above and Beyond Hospice.
