Obituary of Lorraine J. Albang

Survivors include her 4 children, Anthony (Sandi) Albang of Mankato, MN, Joan Cueno and Richard Albang both of Dyersville and David (Phyl) Albang of Oxford Junction, IA, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 brothers: Walter Osterhaus of Independence, IA and George Osterhaus of Urbana, IA, and a dear friend, Aimee Hoefler of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1973, one son, Charles in 1989, sisters: Mathilda Dague, Bernice Schmitt, Francine Wessels and Mary Osterhaus and brothers, Leo, Frank, John and Joe Osterhaus. Friends may call from 3 - 8 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and American Legion Auxiliary Rosary at 6 p.m. Lorraine was born on October 30, 1914 in Fillmore, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Leibold) Osterhaus. She married Lawrence Albang in May of 1940 in Dyersville, Iowa. Lorraine was a seamstress at the Piekenbrock Clothes Factory in Dyersville and also did custodial work at St. Francis School. She enjoyed playing cards, the organ, volunteering at Mercy Medical Center and liked things that were short and to the point. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling, visiting, socializing and listening to music. Lorraine was a good cook and loved baking for her family. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
