Survivors include her husband, Urban, four sons: Richard (Mary) of Dyersville, IA, Dan (Janet) of Chesterfield, MO, Greg (Beth) of Battle Creek, MI, and Steve (Chrissy) of New Vienna, IA, 12 grandchildren: Mollie (Brian) Prescott of Abington, IL, Kelly Herbers (friend Robert Kodoko) of Colleyville, TX, Amy (Steve) Kinny of Allen, TX, and Tim Herbers (fiance Laura White) of Dyersville, IA, Brett and Stephanie Herbers both of Chesterfield, MO, Matt and Jacob Herbers of Battle Creek, MI, Jason, Eric, Tammy and Rachael Herbers of New Vienna, IA, one great grandson, Nick Prescott, one sister, Luella Cushing of Golden, CO, two brothers: Gene (Dori) Vorwald of Holy Cross, IA, and Jerome (Kathy) Vorwald of Rockford, IL, sisters-in-law: Agnes Vorwald of Holy Cross, IA, Joan (Nick) Dunkel of Manchester, IA, Sr. Gabriel Herbers of St. Paul, MN and a brother-in-law, Rev. Simon Herbers of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bob Vorwald. Eileen was born on July 23, 1925 in Holy Cross, Iowa, the daughter of Norbert and Lavina (Lynch) Vorwald. She graduated St. Boniface High School and from St. Francis School of Nursing. Eileen married Urban Herbers on May 21, 1949 in Holy Cross, Iowa. She was a surgical nurse in Clinton, IA for 3 years, worked as a nurse at John Deere for 3 years and with her husband Urban, helped farm near New Vienna. Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who also found time to volunteer at church and for the Hospital Auxiliary in Dyersville. She enjoyed baking, gardening and sewing and loved to play Solo and Euchre. The family would like to thank the staffs at Oak Crest Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their compassionate care. Eileen M. Herbers, 82, of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa after a courageous battle with Parkinsons' Disease.. Friends may call from 3 - 9 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. An Eileen Herbers memorial fund has been established. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse with Rev. Simon Herbers concelebrating and Deacon Fred Pins assisting.
