Obituary of Charles Francis Wieneke

Survivors include his wife, Imogene, a daughter, Trudy A. (William) Schade, Windsor, CO, sons John C. (Virginia), Santa Rosa, CA, and James A. (Nancy) of Issaquah, WA, , grandchildren, Christopher (Neelm) Schade Discovery Bay, CA and Gregory Schade, Fort Collins, CO, Benjamin Wieneke, a student at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI and Thomas Wieneke, Issaquah. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard, Robert and Lionel and sisters Shirley Hageman, Helen Weber and Viola Goephardt. Charles was born on July 3, 1918 in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Herman and Philamina (Wilhelm) Wieneke. He married Imogene Beckmann on May 3, 1943 in Dyersville. In the 1930's he played in the Dyersville Band with his father, and after high school he toured the Midwest as a professional musician. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp as a communication specialist and part of his service included membership in the military band. In the 1950's he studied art and took correspondence courses from the Minneapolis School of Art. After the war he was self employed and owned an electronics repair shop, and later was employed at the All Steel Truck Company in Dyersville. He later operated Quipmatic, his own steel fabrication business in Rockford, IL, where he made equipment for the food processing and automobile industries. He enjoyed all forms of electronic gadgets, including computers and his new Ipod. He also worked crossword puzzles and enjoyed an occasional fly fishing trip. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
