Obituary of Viola Marie Schlemme

Survivors include her daughters Donna (Ernest) Akers, Epworth, IA, Ellen (Larry) Fuller, Springville, IA and Susan (Dave) Hartwell, Iowa City, IA; a daughter-in-law Kathy (Joe) Carnahan, Springville, IA; a stepdaughter Ann (Bob) Gernes, Des Moines, IA, a stepson Bob Wikan, MN, 13 grandchildren, three step granddaughters, 22 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by a son Le Roy "Butch" Taylor, her parents, sisters Dorothy Spinler and Ruth Johnson and brothers Paul and George Wilcox. Viola was born August 28, 1920 in Boulder Township in rural Linn County, the daughter of Leo and Nellie (Soesbe) Wilcox. She married William E. Taylor on March 24, 1938 in Manchester, IA. He preceded her in death in 1962. On November 7, 1981 she married George A. Schlemme in Monticello. He preceded her death in 1998. Viola enjoyed camping, music, playing cards, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City Viola died Friday at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
