Obituary of Roger Fred Busch

Survivors include his wife, Regena, of Monticello, 3 sons: Scott (Rachel) Busch, Dousman, Wis., Craig (Cynthia) Busch, Charlotte, N.C., Jason Busch, Washington, D.C., 2 daughters: Janna (Denny) Burke, Alta Vista, Iowa and Jodi Busch, Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren: Savanah Busch, Preston Busch, Hannah Busch, Chloe Busch, Mason Burke, and Carson Burke; 1 brother, George (Betty) Busch, Clinton Iowa, and 3 sisters: Nona Sheper, Toronto, Iowa Betty Schau, Calamus, Iowa, and Lois (Don) Latare of Maquoketa, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Cary Busch, a grandson, Christopher Burke Roger was born on February 20, 1941 in Wheatland, Iowa, the son of Fred Henry and Elizabeth (Wiedenhoff) Busch. He married Regena Dayle Pithan on August 16, 1964 in Lost Nation, Iowa. Roger has been in banking for 40 plus years, most recently at Citizens State Bank in Monticello after having been in Lost Nation for 13 years, and Alta Vista/New Hampton for 12 years. Roger was active in all communities in which he lived. In Monticello he was a member of the Monticello Development Corp and the Monticello Planning Committee. He was also a long time member of the Monticello Chamber Ambassadors and was President of Thrivent Financial. He was also involved in many volunteer activities including Riverside Gardening, the Masonic Lodge, Treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was currently Secretary of the Monticello Lions Club and he held several District and State offices including Past Council Chair and Past District Governor. He was a recipient of the Warren Coleman Honorary Award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, and the International Presidents Award. Friends may call from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 11, 2008 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, in Monticello, Iowa. Burial will be at the Busch Cemetery in Lost Nation, Iowa at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12. Officiating will be Rev. Daryl Larson Memorials are preferred to Camp Courageous of Iowa or the Iowa Lions Foundation.
