Obituary of James Harold Leigh

James H. Leigh, 72, of Dubuque and Milford, IA, and formerly of Dyersville, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. Jim was born on February 1, 1940, in Dyersville Iowa, the son of Harry H. and Clara M. (Oberbroeckling) Leigh. He married Sharon McLaughlin on August 12, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a lifelong welder, working with his brothers Merle and Jerry in the pipeline industry. In 1997 he established Pipeline Services of Iowa in Milford. Most recently he was a co-owner and operator of Utility Inspections Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time with his beloved animal companions. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sharon, and children: Jeanette M. Leigh of Dubque, and Jeff Leigh of Milford, Iowa; siblings: Merle (Denise) Leigh of Osage Beach, MO, Bob (Grace) Leigh of Dyersville, Carol (Jim) Harrod of Adamsville, TN, and Janet Leigh-Orr of Dyersville, many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom and Jerry, and a nephew, Daniel Leigh. Special thanks to Cathy Sutter for her guidance and support. Thanks also to the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Angela Dispenzieri and to Melony and Dr. Mark Hermann with Hospice of Dubuque for their care, concern and compassion. A James Leigh memorial fund has been established and memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
