Hoefler all of New Vienna, IA, Dawn (Steve) Wilwert of Epworth, IA, and Todd (Traci) Hoefler of Mechanicsville, IA, 20 grandchldren: Matt, Logan, Quinton and Becca Hoefler, Travis, Megan and Dylan Hoefler, Raegan, Reid Hoefler, Devyn, Austin, Jenna and Ethan Hoefler, Brandon, Mitchel, Trevor, Bryce Wilwert, Daphne, Rhyan, Hayden Hoefler, 1 step-great granddaughter, Mia Wilwert, one sister, Joan (Art) Weber of Dyersville, IA, step-siblings: Neil Gavin and Gary (Gloria) Gavin all of Cascade, IA, Mark (Kate) Gavin of Williamsburg, IA, Greg (Peggy) Gavin of Shreveport, LA, Gwen Kukla of Chicago, IL, Keneth Gavin of France and Phyllis (Michael) Mott of England, brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen Hoefler of Lamont, IA, Germaine Schilling of Zwingle, IA, Clem (Joan) Hoefler of New Vienna, IA, Mary Ann (Al) Geers of Marion, IA, Eileen (Jim) Simon of Farley, IA, and Dave (Joyce) Hoefler of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Pam in 1987, infant sisters and brothers, brothers-in-law: Arnold Hoefler and Lloyd Schilling and a step-sister-in-law, Sherry Gavin (Neil's wife). Marilyn was born on November 21, 1942 in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary (Sabers) Funke. She married John G. Hoefler on November 24, 1962 in Worthington, Iowa. Together they raised their family and farmed near New Vienna where she was often seen driving the MacDon Hay Bine. If anyone needed anything, Marilyn was always eager and ready to help. She was a naturally warm and caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a genuine smile and heartwarming personality. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed the close relationships she had with her grandchildren, making each of them feel special. She was a member of the COF, St. Joseph Court 2101, New Vienna, Iowa, the St. Boniface Parish & Altar Society and a youth director for many years at Catholic Order of Foresters. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Miner and staff, the oncology nurses and staff at Medical Associates for their care over the past ten years. The family would also like to thank the Holy Cross EMT Service.
