Obituary of Marie Ann Westhoff

Marie was born January 6, 1918, in New Vienna, Iowa the daughter of Henry S. and Elenora C. (Funke) Scherbring. She married Hubert "Hub" Westhoff on May 1, 1941 in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they operated Hub's Repair Shop in New Vienna until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the St. Boniface Altar & Rosary Society, the St. Boniface Choir, Edward W. Lake V.F.W. Post 7736 Auxiliary and the New Vienna Historical Society. In addition to helping at the shop, she enjoyed raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren. In her pastime she enjoyed fishing, music and singing, cards and bingo at Oak Crest Manor. Surviving are 2 sons: Henry J. (Mary Jean) and Gerald (Mary Kay) Westhoff, and a daughter, Marilee (Chuck) Koelker, all of New Vienna, Iowa; 18 grandchildren: Kurt (Amy) Westhoff, Brian (special friend, Judy) Westhoff, Doug (Lynn) Westhoff Chris (Sheri) Westhoff, Sally (Jeff) Vetter, Karen Chiasson, Andy (special friend, Amanda) Westhoff, Cory (Michele) Westhoff, Pam (Ken) Schmit, Kim (Rob) Bowen, De Schieltz, Kandy (Chad) Sands, Jody (Tim) Mead, Jackie Westhoff, Barry (Carrie) Koelker, Danielle (Bruce) Ling, Angel (Jason) Kelchen, and Carmen (Terry) Dunkel; 38 great grandchildren and a sister, Hattie Lueck of New Vienna. Also surviving are 4 sisters-in-law: Sally Wegmann, Isabel, Catherine and Mary Westhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert, 1997, a daughter, Marilyn at birth, a grandson-in-law, Randy Westemeier, a brother-in-law, Lawrence Lueck and several other brothers-and-sisters-in-law. The parish scripture service will be held at 3 p.m., the St. Boniface Altar & Rosary Society and V.F.W. Auxiliary will recite a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and the New Vienna /Luxemburg Fire and EMS will gather at 5p.m.
